How To Repair Window Tint Scratch
-
Can you lot repair a scratched tint?
my offside rear window has tinting (dealer fitted), and I put a scratchmark about an inch and a half long in information technology whilst loading stuff in my car. the scratch is thru the plastic tint and onto the glass, but i don't believe it is scratched the drinking glass.
are their spot repairs for this, or does the film come off? or worse, does the window need to be replaced?

you might just need to replace the tint on that window.
i accept a scratch on my front passenger side window and ill probably replace information technology downwards the track. but considering how much tints are these days, might go the whole auto done again in something darker.

I had a scratch in the rear window of my tint when I purchased the car. The scratch was just throught the tint and not the glass, you could feel information technology and see it. Although it was pretty small-scale. I got the rear window tint removed (they cannot repair if it has scratched through the tint), and then retinted about two weeks ago. $130 from Tint-a-car.

ok, then how practise they remove the tint? do they need the car for a certain period or can they chemically remove the tint? I assume they'd have to have the automobile for a mean solar day and remove the trim and the glass, remove tint, utilise new tint, restitch car back upwards.

If you are referring to the standard adhesive tint motion picture so its a $70 fix upwardly here. I know, i just replaced our passenger side window tint on our Forester.
Ours was applied to the car when new past the dealer, ie the dealer had tint-a-auto (or similar) tint the car before commitment. Unfortunately the dealer shut downward before the tint started to peel on one forepart window... so i had another company (in Brisbane) remove the tint from that window, clean it, then reapply new tint. The whole process took less than an hour and is duplicate from the other windows.
You lot should take it back to the dealer and point it out, in that location is usually a v year warranty on tinting, i certainly would have complained to the dealer if they notwithstanding existed!

btw - the process with this type of tint is to remove the door trim, peel off the tint starting from the lowest point (similar contact), clean it with a solvent (or steam off whatever problem tint), and so reapply.
Ours merely dettached because they did not apply enough tint to go far plenty below the window scraper (slack *&*&ards), the constant rubbing eventually caused it to lift.MY07 R32, black, DSG, 3dr, sunroof

....A cheaper solution is to stick a Garfield doll on the window, will cover the scratch and remind you lot to be conscientious loading your car

- Since when does tint come up with free replacement for impairment by the client?
